Alicia Amlin - Con-Goer, Cosplayer, Insi of the Stories

I enjoy visiting scifi, fantasy, and anime conventions, Renaissance fairs, and Japanese festivals. Drawing, writing, and doll making keep me busy, and I hope to be a vendor at VisionCon 2012. I was raised with Jim Henon's greatest works, such as The Dark Crystal and Labyrinth, and I am now a puppeteer working fast to becoming a ventriloquist. I own a special, extremely realistic Baby Dragon puppet that I had to order off of fantasypuppet.com; several people are convinced that he's real! ^-^

Besides my more creative hobbies, I enjoy reading the Legend of Drizzt series and several action/adventure and fantasy manga.

The following image is my drow character Insi. Drow--also known as dark elves--come from the RPG Dungeons and Dragons. I've dressed as Insi twice, once at this year's VisionCon (first drow to attend VisionCon EVER!), and once at this year's Whitehart Renaissance Fair. The image is slightly outdated: Insi no longer wears the Asian jacket, but now wears a fur coat that she had recieved from an old deceased friend that was a White Wolf. I had to make the ears myself.

That's a great cosplay costume! At one time I use to consider going to various anime conventions and cosplaying as some of my favorite characters, but could never find a group of people to go with.

It's interesting that you mention anime because when I was in China this past summer, it was the THING! All of the students, teens and even adults LOVED it. That's awesome!

The ears on the costume are my favorite out of the entire outfit. I have never been to any conventions like that before but if someone were to drag me along im sure i would find something to like about them. After all of that reading you have been doing i bet this class will come easy to you. Have a good one!

I think its awesome that you're working hard in ventriloquism. I love watching ventriloquists and wondering what is going on. That costume is quite awesome for sure.
